Telescopes Styles:

There two basic telescope styles.
Reflective telescope and Refractor telescope

Reflector:

Refractor:

Focal Length:

The telescope objective lens has a focal length and the ocular lens (Eyepiece) has a focal length. These determine the magnification of what you see.
Telescope power value = Objective focal length f' Eyepiece
Focal Length F' x Barlow lens power

Aperture:

The aperture affects the brightness and the resolution of what you see. The aperture is the diameter of the objective lens (on refractor telescopes) or the diameter of the mirror (on reflective telescopes). The larger the aperture, the more light the telescope can gather and the sharper the resolution.
